Web hostess, Marnie Swedberg, created the Christian Women's Speakers Directory in 2001 when facing a personal struggle with a speaker search. "I found myself, as an Event Planner, needing another speaker for an upcoming event, but not knowing who to call. Our committee had exhausted all of the speakers we knew," Swedberg said. "It was also about that time that I found myself, as a Christian Woman Speaker, needing to turn down more and more of the invitations I was receiving personally. Each time I did, I heard the same question I had been asking, ‘Do YOU know of any good speakers? We just don't know who else to call.'"

"Because I make significant use of the Internet, I realized the potential of this vast network for helping Event Planners and Speakers connect, thereby saving both parties valuable time, money and frustration," Swedberg said.

The speakers registered with the site give positive feedback on Swedberg's vision. Florida speaker, Barbara Benton, said, "I definitely feel this site gets my information out there…. I was listed with another site, which I am not renewing, because I think more traffic comes from the Christian Women's Speakers Directory."
